Old Bull Lee’s house

A project I was working on a few months ago was to read a book and create a visual response for it. The book I chose was On the Road by Jack Kerouac.

Although I didn’t really like it, I was interested in the descriptions of places. One of these was the house of Old Bull Lee in New Orleans, and from the description I decided to create a model of it.

Most of the house is made from corrugated card, the floor is wood shavings, the supports are twigs, the roofing is bark, and the walls were made out of an old chinese takeaway calendar.

I also put a cheap lamp inside it, which makes the whole thing look pretty cool in the dark.

More detailed shots after the jump.
